Salt Air Changes the Spec: The 5 Best Rated Walk-In Shower Companies in League City, TX
If you are comparing the best rated walk in shower companies League City homeowners actually hire, the question that matters here is not tile. It is whether the company specifying your shower understands that League City air is not Houston air, and prices hardware and finishes accordingly.
League City sits in Galveston County at roughly twenty feet of elevation, bounded by Clear Creek and Clear Lake on the north and pointed at Galveston Bay. Prevailing wind off the water carries chloride aerosol inland, and chloride is the single most aggressive thing you can put on a fixture finish, a hinge screw, or an exhaust duct cap.
That is the project. A shower here is a waterproofing job plus a corrosion job, and most companies only quote the first one. This ranking is published by Cascade Showerworks, we are first on it, and the criteria are printed below so you can check us against everyone else.

How We Ranked the Walk-In Shower Companies Serving League City
Every national bath brand in the Houston metro will drive to League City, and almost none of them change a single line of the specification when they cross the Galveston County line. We weighted the criteria below toward the things that decide whether a coastal shower still looks and works right in year eight: a named waterproofing system, hardware and finish specification a company will put in writing, and a crew that answers to somebody local when a hinge fails.
This ranking is published by Cascade Showerworks. We are on the list, and we are first on it, so the fair thing to do is show you exactly what we measured and let you check every claim yourself. Every company below is a real business with a verified address, phone number, and Google Business Profile linked in its section.

What We Measured
- Shower specializationHow much of the company's work is showers rather than kitchens, floors, and whole-bath gut jobs
- Installer modelCertified W2 employees who set showers daily versus rotating subcontract crews
- Waterproofing systemA named, tested waterproofing assembly rather than "we seal it well"
- Install timelineDays the bathroom is out of service, and whether the quoted timeline is contractual
- Pricing transparencyOne flat written number before demolition versus an estimate that moves
- WarrantyLength, what it actually covers, and whether it transfers to the next owner
- Local accountabilityLocally owned and reachable versus a franchise territory or a call center
- Public ratingGoogle rating and review volume, verified at the time of writing
We did not rank on advertising spend, showroom size, or how many services a company offers. A walk-in shower is a waterproofing project with glass on it, and the companies that do it best are the ones that do it most.

The 5 Best Rated Walk-In Shower Companies in League City, Side by Side
All five of these are real businesses with verified addresses and phone numbers, and all five will drive to League City. They do not do the same job. Two of them build showers as a specialty. Two of them are dealer or franchise operations built around a manufactured acrylic system. One of them is a full bathroom remodeler that also sells showers. Which one is correct for you depends on how much of the shower is exposed metal and how long you plan to own the house.

Rank order follows the criteria in the section above. It is not a statement that four good companies are bad companies. If your project is an acrylic tub to shower conversion in a guest bath that nobody showers in twice a day, the company at number four may quote it faster and cheaper than the company at number one. The coastal hardware column is the honest one. We are not claiming the other four use bad parts. We are saying that if a company will not put the finish type and the fastener alloy in writing, you have no way to know what you bought until it starts pitting.

Call (346) 678-4776What Salt Air and Bay Humidity Actually Do to a League City Shower
Corrosion is not weather damage. It is an electrochemical process that needs three things at once: a metal, an electrolyte film sitting on that metal, and something in the film that breaks down the protective oxide layer. League City delivers all three, most days of the year.
An inland Houston bathroom gets the humidity. A League City bathroom gets the humidity plus the chloride, and the chloride is what turns a slow process into a fast one.
Why the Air Here Is Different From Air in Katy
League City is in Galveston County, roughly twenty feet above sea level, with Clear Creek and Clear Lake to the north and Galveston Bay a short drive east past Kemah and Seabrook. The dominant wind on the upper Texas coast for most of the year comes off the water from the southeast.
That wind carries sea salt aerosol. Deposition drops off with distance from open water, but it does not stop at a property line, and a house on the east side of League City lives in a measurably more aggressive atmosphere than a house of the same age and price in Cypress. International corrosivity classification schemes handle this by putting coastal sites a full category or more above inland ones, and by rating chloride deposition separately from humidity for exactly this reason.
Time of Wetness, and Why Salt Lowers the Threshold
The number that predicts atmospheric corrosion is not average humidity. It is time of wetness, meaning the hours per year a metal surface actually carries a film of moisture. On the upper Texas coast that number is very high, and the League City area records roughly sixty inches of rain a year with high dew points from May through October.
Here is the part that gets missed. Clean steel needs relative humidity somewhere near eighty percent before an electrolyte film forms. Chloride salts are hygroscopic, which means a salt-contaminated surface pulls water out of the air and stays wet at humidity levels well below that. Salt does not just add an aggressive ion. It lowers the humidity at which corrosion runs at all, and in a coastal climate that converts a lot of dry hours into wet ones.
The Bathroom Makes It Worse Twice a Day
A shower puts the room at or near saturation for fifteen minutes, twice a day. In an inland house the exhaust fan then swaps that air for drier air and the room recovers. In League City in July, the outdoor dew point is often in the mid seventies, so the air you are exchanging with is not dry either.
The result is a room that spends more hours above the corrosion threshold than the same room in Katy, with salt already deposited on the metal from the rest of the house. That is the environment your hinge screws, your valve trim and your fan damper live in.
Where Salt Air Attacks a Shower
On the underside and back of fixture trim, where an escutcheon meets tile and a handle meets its base, because those surfaces never get wiped and never fully dry
Inside hinge and clamp assemblies, in the shielded gap between the base plate and the wall and around every threaded hole
At fastener heads and threads, which are usually the cheapest metal in an otherwise expensive hardware set
Along U-channel and header bar joints, where two different metals meet under a bead of silicone that eventually breaks
At the exhaust termination cap and its backdraft damper, which sits outdoors in full salt exposure and is the one part nobody ever inspects
Behind mirror edges and along mirror clips, where humidity plus chloride attacks the silvering from the perimeter inward
Exhaust Is the Other Half of the Problem
Every corrosion decision you make inside the shower is undone by a fan that cannot dry the room. Ventilation is not a comfort item in a coastal bathroom. It is the primary control on time of wetness, which is the primary control on how long your hardware lasts.
Code requires bathroom exhaust to terminate outdoors, never into an attic or a soffit, with a backdraft damper at the termination. In League City that damper is the failure point, because it is a moving metal part living in salt air with nobody watching it.
Ducting and Termination Caps
A stuck-open damper lets humid outdoor air blow back down the duct into the bathroom every time the wind is onshore, which is most of the time. A stuck-closed damper means the fan runs, the room stays wet, and the homeowner assumes ventilation is handled because they can hear it.
Specify a smooth-wall rigid duct rather than flexible foil, insulate it where it crosses a hot attic so condensate does not form inside and run back, keep the run short and the elbows few, and use a termination cap and fasteners that are either composite or stainless. A painted steel cap with plated screws is a two-year part on this side of the metro.
Make-Up Air
A fan can only exhaust what it can replace. In a tight newer League City house with a closed bathroom door and no undercut, a 110 CFM fan moves a fraction of its rating. Undercut the door, add a transfer grille, or accept that your ventilation number is a sticker on a box rather than a measurement.
Coastal Ventilation Checklist for a League City Bathroom
Size the fan to the room, using roughly one CFM per square foot of floor as a starting point for a bath up to 100 square feet, and more where the shower is enclosed
Run it longer than the shower, on a humidity sensor or a timer, because the makeup air outside is humid and the room dries slowly
Duct it in smooth-wall rigid pipe at the fan collar diameter, sloped so any condensate runs to the termination rather than back into the housing
Insulate the duct across the attic, since dumping saturated air through a bare pipe in a Gulf Coast attic makes water inside the duct
Terminate through the roof or wall with a composite or stainless cap, and put the damper on your maintenance list rather than assuming it works
Give the room make-up air, with a door undercut or a transfer grille, or the rated airflow never happens

What They Do
Cascade Showerworks installs showers and nothing else. No vanities, no flooring, no kitchens, no whole-bath gut jobs. Tub to shower conversions, walk-in shower replacements, curbless and barrier-free showers, glass enclosures, and the waterproofing and drain work underneath all of it.
The systems are Samuel Mueller and Transolid solid surface and cast acrylic, in three series with published price bands: Pioneer at $9,200 to $14,400, BelAir at $11,800 to $17,600, and Luxura at $14,400 to $21,900. Those numbers are printed on the company website, which is not something most walk in shower companies near me searches will turn up.
Who They Are Right For
A League City homeowner who is not gutting the whole bathroom but wants the shower itself done correctly and done once. That is most of the work happening in this city: the vanity and floor are fine, the builder-grade fiberglass unit from 1998 is not.
It is also the right call when the corrosion question matters, which near the bay it always does. A shower-only company has to be able to answer what alloy the hinge fasteners are, because there is no cabinetry markup to hide a vague answer behind.
How They Install
Certified W2 employees, not rotating subcontractors, with lead installers carrying Samuel Mueller certification identification. The standard shower install runs one day, roughly 7:30 in the morning to 5:30 in the evening, with the shower usable after the silicone cures overnight.
Work in League City is scheduled around the city inspection calendar, which is tighter than most of the metro because the Building Department office closes at noon on Fridays and inspections stop at 11 in the morning that day.
How Cascade installs — step by step
Step 1 of 5

Certified W2 employees, not rotating subcontractors. The cast iron branch and galvanized supply get inspected before the price is set, and plumbing line items are quoted on their own days rather than folded into the one-day promise.
Verified Credentials
| Credential | What It Means on a Memorial Shower |
|---|---|
| Shower-only specialist, not a general remodeler taking shower work between kitchens | Every crew day is a shower day — the wall assembly answer comes from repetition, not from a subcontractor briefed that morning |
| Samuel Mueller certified installers carrying certification identification on the job | A named, tested waterproofing assembly rather than a promise to seal it well |
| Certified W2 crews, never rotating subcontract labor | The same people who measured your floor are the ones building on it |
| A+ BBB rated and 4.9 star Google rated across 30-plus verified reviews | Verify it live before you sign, the same way you should verify everyone on this page |
| One day installs on standard shower systems, with any structural or drain work quoted separately | The one-day promise does not absorb drain relocation or branch line replacement — those are quoted and scheduled separately |
| Flat written pricing with no surprise change orders after demolition | The number you sign is the number; changes require your written approval before we proceed |
| Lifetime transferable warranty that follows the house to the next owner | It follows the house, which matters in Memorial where homes trade well above Harris County averages |
The Caveat
If you want your vanity, mirror, lighting, tile floor and closet done at the same time, Cascade is not the whole answer. They will build the shower and coordinate around your other trades, but you will be hiring a second contractor for the rest of the room.
That is the tradeoff of a specialist, and it is deliberate. The company is on this list at number one because of what it refuses to do, not in spite of it.
Why It Ranks First
Shower-only specialization. Certified W2 crews. A named waterproofing assembly. A one-day install window scheduled around City of Houston inspections. A flat written price. A lifetime transferable warranty. The criteria line up because the company does one thing, repeatedly.
Get one flat written price in your League City bathroom — before any demolition.
No moving estimates. No surprises after the tile comes off.
2. Simplicity Bath & Shower: Grout-Free Solid Surface From the Katy Side of the Metro

What They Do
Simplicity Bath & Shower works out of Katy and covers greater Houston. The company builds solid surface showers, custom showers, tub to shower conversions, walk-in tubs, and complete bathroom remodels including cabinets, vanities and countertops.
They also market accessible and aging-in-place work as a stated specialty, which matters in a city where a large share of the shower projects are being driven by a homeowner who wants to stay put and stop stepping over a tub wall.
Who They Are Right For
The League City homeowner who wants the shower and the rest of the bathroom handled by one company, and who wants a grout-free solid surface rather than tile. Simplicity states on its own website that it works from upfront pricing without a high-pressure sales presentation, which is not universal in this category.
Grout-free is a really good answer near the bay for reasons that have nothing to do with looks. Fewer joints means fewer places for salt and sunscreen residue to sit and stay wet.
How They Install
In-house teams on a project schedule rather than a fixed one-day model. Timeline depends on scope, and a full bath remodel through Simplicity will run considerably longer than a shower swap. The company states more than twenty years in the remodeling industry.
The Caveat
The drive is the issue. Katy to League City is most of the width of the metro, and a company headquartered west of the Grand Parkway has to schedule League City inspection windows around a long run on the Beltway or 288.
They also cover a wider service menu than a shower specialist, so how they specify hardware and fixture finishes for a coastal address is a question worth asking directly at the estimate.
When This Is the Right Call
If the scope grows past the shower into the vanity wall, countertop, or the closet next to it, a design-build company managing all of it has a real coordination advantage over multiple trades.

What They Do
Re-Bath is a national bathroom remodeling franchise, and the Houston location operates out of North Sam Houston Parkway West. The scope is the whole bathroom: tub to shower conversions, shower and tub replacements, accessible and ADA-oriented bathrooms, walk-in tubs, flooring, vanities and lighting.
The company runs a design center model with in-house designers and its own product lines, so selections happen in a showroom rather than out of a sample case in your living room.
Who They Are Right For
A League City homeowner replacing an entire dated bathroom in one contract with one point of accountability, who values a showroom selection process and a national warranty structure over a local specialist relationship.
If a 1990s hall bath in a Clear Creek ISD neighborhood needs everything replaced at once, this model is built for exactly that job and does it in a predictable window.
How They Install
Re-Bath advertises most standard bathroom remodels completing in roughly three to five days using its proprietary installation process and product system, with installation handled by franchise-managed crews and licensed trades.
The Caveat
Franchise means the sign is national and the crew is local, and the crew is the part that installs your shower. Ask who specifically is doing the work, whether they are employees of the franchise, and how a warranty claim gets routed two years from now.
Ask the finish question too. A national product catalog is written for the whole country, and the trim package that is correct in Dallas is not automatically the correct trim package eight miles from Galveston Bay.
The Full-Bath Advantage
If the 1965 hall bath needs everything — flooring, vanity, fixtures, lighting and the shower — one company managing all of it has a real coordination advantage over four trades with you as the general contractor.

What They Do
Luxury Bath of Houston, formerly Bath Planet of Greater Houston, is a dealer in a national acrylic bath system network serving the Houston market. The product line covers replacement tubs, shower systems, walk-in tubs, tub to shower conversions and barrier-free roll-in bases, built around molded acrylic that is warranted not to crack, chip or fade.
The dealer does not publish a street address, so treat the phone number and the dealer page as the contact path and confirm a physical location if that matters to you.
Who They Are Right For
The tub to shower conversion League City homeowner who wants a guest bath, a rental, or a second bath handled quickly, cleanly, and inside the footprint that already exists. Acrylic has no grout, it wipes clean, and it goes in fast.
It is also a fair option for an aging-in-place upgrade where a low threshold base and a grab bar solve the problem and a full custom build is more project than the situation calls for.
How They Install
The system is designed for a one-day installation in an existing opening, using dealer installation crews. The dealer network model means each location is independently owned and operated, so the install experience is a local one under a national brand.
The Caveat
An acrylic system is built to fit the opening you have. That is the entire value proposition and also the limit. If your goal is a wider curbless entry in a primary suite, the room has to change, and that is not what this model is optimized around.
The acrylic itself is well suited to coastal air, because it is a polymer with nothing to corrode. The metal that goes on it is a different question, so ask what the trim, the hinges and the fasteners are before you sign.
When Acrylic Makes Sense
For a Memorial guest bath or second bathroom where the existing footprint works and speed matters, a fitted acrylic system is a sensible and well-proven answer. No grout to maintain, one-day install, and a defined warranty on the product.

What They Do
EZ Bath is a family-owned bathroom remodeling company based in Tomball, covering the greater Houston metro. The work is full bathroom remodels, tub to shower conversions, shower remodels, walk-in tubs, bathtub work and vanities.
The company states on its own site that it builds with named product partners including Onyx Collection solid surface, Kerdi waterproofing, Delta fixtures and Bishop cabinets, which is more supply chain transparency than most companies in this category publish.
Who They Are Right For
A homeowner who wants a bathroom done quickly by a small family-run operation and cares more about turnaround and cost than about a shower specialist relationship. EZ Bath advertises a compressed schedule that gets a standard conversion done within the same week.
How They Install
In-house crews on a tight multi-day schedule, with a limited warranty on labor and installation layered under the manufacturer warranties from its product partners.
The Caveat
Tomball to League City is the longest commute on this list by a wide margin, roughly fifty miles of metro traffic each way. League City inspections have to be requested by 3 in the afternoon for the next business day, and that is a hard schedule to serve from the far northwest corner of the metro.
The fast-turnaround model is also built around conventional inland installations. A coastal hardware and finish specification is a different conversation and should be had before the contract is signed.
The Named-Partner Advantage
Publishing product partners before the contract is signed is a meaningful gesture of transparency. Kerdi waterproofing named on the website is a more specific answer than "we use premium materials."

Finishes and Hardware Built for Coastal Air: PVD Versus Electroplated, 304 Versus 316
This is the section that separates a League City specification from a Houston specification, and it costs almost nothing to get right at the time of purchase. It costs a great deal to get wrong.
There are two decisions. What coating is on the visible trim, and what alloy is in the hardware and the fasteners that hold glass.
Electroplated Finishes and Why They Pit Here
A conventional decorative finish is a plated stack. On a brass fitting that usually means copper, then nickel, then a thin decorative chromium layer on top. It is deposited from a plating bath, it is relatively soft, and its corrosion performance is governed almost entirely by porosity in that stack.
Chloride finds a pore. It reaches the nickel layer underneath, which is anodic to the chromium, and a pit starts under the plating where nothing can clean it. The pit grows sideways, the chrome lifts in a blister, and by the time it is visible the part is finished. In dry inland air the same fitting can run a decade without ever starting that process. Eight miles from Galveston Bay it can start in the second year, on the underside of a spout nobody looks at.
Living finishes are their own conversation. Unlacquered brass and oil rubbed bronze are designed to change with exposure, which is charming inland and unpredictable here, because chloride drives the patina fast and unevenly and it will not match from one fitting to the next.
PVD, and What Makes It Different
PVD stands for physical vapor deposition. The coating is applied in a vacuum chamber, where the coating material is vaporized and condensed onto the part as a very thin, very hard ceramic film that is bonded into the substrate rather than laid on top of it. Common PVD chemistries for plumbing trim are nitrides that produce brass, bronze, gold and black tones.
Two properties matter to you. The film is dramatically harder than decorative chrome, so it does not scratch through to the substrate from a squeegee, a ring, or sand. And it is far less porous and chemically inert, so chloride does not have a pore to start in. That combination is why PVD is the standard on marine hardware and why it belongs on a League City shower even when the same fitting in an electroplated finish is on the shelf for less.
Read the Finish Warranty for a Coastal Exclusion
This is the practical test, and you can run it yourself before you buy. Pull up the manufacturer finish warranty and look for language excluding damage from salt air, coastal environments, or exposure to corrosive atmospheres. Those exclusions exist on plenty of otherwise good products, and they are the manufacturer telling you plainly where the product is not intended to live.
Salt Spray Numbers Are Comparative, Not Predictive
You will see spec sheets citing hours in a salt spray cabinet, most often the long-established ASTM B117 test. That number is useful for comparing two coatings against each other under one lab condition. It is a poor predictor of real service life, because a constant salt fog does not replicate the wet and dry cycling that actually drives coastal corrosion. Buy the coating type and the alloy, not the hours figure.
304 Versus 316 Stainless, and Why the Difference Is Not Marketing
Both are austenitic stainless steels and both protect themselves with a thin passive chromium oxide film. 304 is roughly eighteen percent chromium and eight percent nickel. 316 adds two to three percent molybdenum, and the molybdenum is the whole point: it stabilizes that passive film specifically against localized attack by chlorides.
In clean air the two behave almost identically, which is why 304 is everywhere and costs less. Put chloride on them and they diverge fast. 304 pits. 316 is the marine grade for exactly this reason, and near Galveston Bay it is the correct default for anything metal that lives in or near a shower.
Crevice Corrosion Is the Actual Failure Mode
Open surfaces are not usually where stainless fails. Crevices are. Under a hinge base plate, inside a threaded hole, beneath a washer, in the gap where a clamp grips glass through a gasket, oxygen gets used up and cannot be replenished. Chloride concentrates in that starved pocket, the local pH drops, the passive film cannot re-form, and the attack runs inward while the outside of the part still looks perfect.
That is why a hardware set can look fine on inspection and be structurally compromised. The damage is inside the joint by design.
How a Hinge Screw Becomes a Broken Panel
A frameless glass door hangs on two or three hinges. Each hinge is anchored to a wall or a post with machine screws, and the glass is captured between hinge halves by through-bolts squeezing gaskets against the panel. Every one of those is a crevice.
When a fastener corrodes, it loses clamping preload or the head loses enough section to shear. The panel shifts a fraction of a degree. Now the glass is no longer resting on gasket, it is bearing on metal at a point. Tempered glass is enormously strong across its face and vulnerable at its edges, and a point load on a tempered edge is the classic setup for a panel that appears to shatter on its own weeks later with nobody touching it.
That failure is almost always blamed on the glass. In a coastal bathroom it is usually the fastener. Specify 316 hardware and 316 fasteners, and ask for a hardware set that can be serviced rather than one that is sealed shut.
Aluminum and Dissimilar Metal Contact
Galvanic corrosion needs two metals of different electrical potential in contact, sharing an electrolyte. Salty condensate is a far better electrolyte than clean water, so a coastal bathroom accelerates every mismatched joint in the enclosure.
Aluminum shows up more than people expect in shower enclosures: U-channels at the base of fixed panels, header bars, sliding door tracks, and some wall jamb profiles sold inside otherwise frameless systems. Aluminum is anodic to both stainless steel and brass, which means in a mixed joint the aluminum is the metal that gives itself up. You see it as white powdery bloom around a fastener, then as a hole that will not hold a screw.
Area ratio decides how fast. A small stainless screw in a large aluminum channel is survivable. A large stainless or brass part bearing on a small aluminum section is not. Anodizing helps until the moment somebody drills through it, which is every installation. The fixes are simple and they have to be specified: nylon or EPDM isolating washers and bushings, sealant in the fastener hole acting as a dielectric break, stainless channels instead of aluminum in the wet zone, or a hardware set with no aluminum in it at all.
Finish and Alloy Specification Table for a League City Shower
Windstorm Insurance, TWIA, and What a WPI Certificate Actually Covers in Your Bathroom
Almost every League City homeowner has heard that coastal construction needs windstorm certification, and almost nobody has been told precisely what that covers. Getting this right saves you money on a shower project and protects your insurance position if the project ever grows.
Here is the short version, and it is not what most people expect: the shower itself is not a windstorm-certifiable improvement. What matters is whether anything else in your scope crosses the building envelope.
Who Is In the Designated Catastrophe Area
The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association is the residual market for wind and hail coverage in a designated catastrophe area set by the Commissioner of Insurance. That area currently covers all fourteen first-tier coastal counties, which includes Galveston, Brazoria and Chambers, plus parts of Harris County east of Highway 146.
League City straddles a county line, and that line matters here. The Galveston County portion of the city sits inside the designated area because the entire county does. The Harris County acreage on the northwest side of the city is a separate question, because only the part of Harris County east of Highway 146 is included, and League City is west of that highway. Confirm your own address with your agent rather than assuming, because the answer changes what your policy path looks like.
What a WPI Certificate Actually Certifies
To buy a TWIA policy, most properties must hold a certificate of compliance showing the structure was built or improved to applicable windstorm building codes. Since June 1, 2020 the Texas Department of Insurance issues all of them. A WPI-8 covers new and ongoing construction and is inspected by a TDI appointed engineer or a TDI inspector while the work is underway. A WPI-8-E covers completed construction and is inspected by a Texas licensed professional engineer, and TDI notes plainly that inspecting a finished structure is harder and may cost more.
The certificate is about the building envelope. TWIA lists new structures, additions and enlargements, windows, entry doors, garage doors, patio covers, decks, roof replacement or significant roof repair, and re-siding a significant portion of an exterior wall as improvements that need one. TDI field offices for the program include La Marque, which is the closest one to League City, and the program line is 800-248-6032.
Your Shower Alone Does Not Need One. The Rest of the Project Might.
TDI and TWIA both publish the exclusions, and they are unambiguous about interior work. Plumbing and electrical repairs do not require a windstorm inspection. Neither do painting, carpeting, cabinets and other non-structural items. A tub to shower conversion inside existing walls is exactly that: plumbing plus non-structural interior finish, and it does not touch the envelope.
The moment your scope crosses the envelope, you are in a different world. Replacing the bathroom window while the room is open, adding an exterior door, opening and re-siding a section of exterior wall to move a fixture, bumping the bathroom out into an addition, or replacing roofing over the bath all pull the project into windstorm certification. If that improvement never gets certified, it can compromise the property TWIA position later, and the person most likely to find out is your buyer at closing.
So the question to ask a walk in shower installers near me candidate is narrow and specific: does any part of this scope touch a window, an exterior door, siding, or the roof. If the answer is yes, ask who is obtaining the WPI-8, at what stage, and get the certificate number when it issues.
Two Exceptions Worth Knowing
TWIA publishes two exceptions to the certificate requirement. Residential construction from 1988 to June 18, 2009 that was never certified may still be eligible with a fifteen percent surcharge on the premium. And a property insured on or after June 19, 2009 in the private market that was non-renewed or cancelled while missing a required WPI-8 may still be eligible. Neither exception is a reason to skip certification on new work.
Windstorm Certification: What Needs It and What Does Not
Permits and Inspections Inside the City of League City Building Department
League City runs its own building department, its own code adoption, and its own inspection calendar. It is not Galveston County and it is not the City of Houston, and a company that has never pulled a permit here will learn that on your project.
The Building Department sits at 500 West Walker Street, the phone line is 281-554-1429, and everything moves through the city online permit portal. City Hall is a few doors down at 300 West Walker.
Which Codes League City Enforces
The city publishes its adopted code list, and it is a current one: the 2021 International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fuel Gas Code, International Energy Conservation Code, International Property Maintenance Code and International Fire Code, along with the 2021 Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners rules and the 2023 National Electrical Code.
The city also states that all plans must comply with League City adopted codes including the ultimate design wind speed, in addition to TDI requirements. Read that as two separate approvals for anything that touches the envelope: the city, and the state windstorm program.
Covering Work Requires Written Permission
This is the single most useful sentence in the League City contractor paperwork, and it is on the registration form itself. Contractors acknowledge that inspections must be requested before performing any work that will cover or obscure previous work, and that permission to cover work will always be given in writing.
For a shower, that language points straight at your waterproofing. The membrane, the pan, the drain connection and the blocking behind grab bars all get buried behind panel or tile. If your installer buries them without an inspection, you have no record that anything was done correctly, and neither does the next owner.
What the City Wants Before Anyone Starts
Contractor registration on file, which the city requires before any work may be permitted or commenced
Proof of insurance naming the City of League City as certificate holder, with minimum coverage of $250,000
A copy of the state issued master or equivalent trade license where the trade requires one, plus a state photo ID
The $150 annual registration fee, which mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors are exempt from except where they are doing general contractor work
A completed building permit application naming the project address, the description of work, the estimated cost of construction, and the flood zone and FEMA FIRM number
Standalone or sub trade permits for the plumbing, electrical and mechanical portions, which are separate line items on the fee schedule
Scheduling Around the Building Department
Inspections are requested through the portal, and the cutoff is 3 in the afternoon for a next business day inspection. Anything requested later goes to the second business day. That single rule reshapes a one-day install schedule more than any other item on this page.
Fridays are shorter than most contractors expect. The Building Department office is open only until noon on Friday and inspections are only performed until 11 in the morning. Construction work itself may be conducted between 7 in the morning and 7 in the evening, with anything outside that window falling under the noise ordinance.
League City Permit and Fee Facts at a Glance
The Boat, the Bay, and the Yard: A Shower That Takes Sand and Salt Every Day
League City is a boating town. The city counts six miles of paddle trails, Clear Creek and Clear Lake sit on the north side, and South Shore Harbour and the Kemah and Seabrook waterfront are minutes away. A meaningful share of the households here come home from the water several times a month.
That changes the shower. Not the look of it, the specification of it, because what comes through the door is sand, shell, salt, sunscreen and a lot of rinse volume, and none of that is what a builder-grade shower was designed around.
What Actually Comes Into This Shower
Sand is the problem nobody plans for. It is abrasive, it is heavier than water, and it settles wherever the flow slows down. Sunscreen is the second problem: mineral formulations with zinc and iron oxides stain grout, and chemical formulations leave an oily residue that holds everything else in place.
Add salt, which does not rinse away so much as redistribute, and a shower that gets used twice as often as a normal primary bath because everybody rinses before they come inside.
Drains for Sand
A traditional point drain with a mortar bed and a clamping ring is the wrong answer here. Its weep holes are the drainage path for the pan below the tile, they are small, and sand plugs them. Once they are plugged, water sits in the mortar bed permanently and the pan never dries.
A linear drain with a stainless channel is the right answer, for a plain mechanical reason: you can lift the grate out, pull the debris basket, and rinse the channel with the handheld in about thirty seconds. That is a maintenance task a homeowner will actually perform, and a drain that can be cleaned is a drain that keeps working.
Grate Choice, and the One Time Tile-In Is the Wrong Look
A tile-in grate takes an insert of your floor tile and disappears into the field, and on most projects it is the better looking option. In a house that brings the bay home it is the worse functional option, because it hides the channel and it is heavier and slower to lift and reset.
Specify a removable stainless grate, a smooth-walled channel with no interior ledges for sand to sit on, and a strainer basket you can actually get a hand around. Choose the drain that gets cleaned over the drain that photographs best.
Slip Resistance Is a Number, Not an Opinion
Floor tile slip resistance is measured as dynamic coefficient of friction, and the industry threshold for level interior floors expected to be walked on when wet is a wet DCOF of at least 0.42 under the ANSI A326.3 method. Ask for the published number on the specific tile, not a reassurance that it is textured.
A textured solid surface base solves the same problem without a specification argument, which is part of why a molded base is a reasonable choice in a rinse shower even for homeowners who wanted tile. It is also why a curbless walk in shower League City boat owners can hose down beats a curbed one that traps sand against a threshold.
Fixtures for a Rinse Shower
A handheld on a slide bar with a long hose is not a luxury item in this house. It is the tool that rinses a cooler, a dog, a pair of wading boots, two kids and the shower floor itself, and it is the reason the shower gets cleaned at all.
Specify a real diverter rather than a cheap tee, a pause or trickle control on the handheld, and a pressure balancing or thermostatic valve that holds temperature through the short bursts a rinse shower is made of. A curbless entry earns its cost here for a different reason than aging in place: nothing to trip over when your hands are full of gear, and a floor you can push water across with a squeegee.

Acrylic and Solid Surface Versus Tile in a League City Coastal Bathroom
The surface argument changes near the bay, and it changes in a direction that surprises people who assumed tile is always the premium answer.
The relevant question here is not which material is nicer. It is how many joints the assembly has, because joints are where salt residue, sunscreen and biological growth live, and a coastal bathroom spends more hours wet than an inland one.
Solid Surface and Cast Acrylic
One-piece or panelized walls with no grout joints anywhere. Nothing to seal, nothing to scrub, and a wall assembly that goes in inside a single day because it is manufactured before it arrives rather than built on your studs.
The polymer itself has nothing to corrode, which is a real advantage in this environment. Sunscreen wipes off it rather than soaking into it. The tradeoff is that a molded base is manufactured to a footprint, so an unusual layout has to be designed around the panel sizes rather than the other way around.
Porcelain Tile
The default for a custom look, and the only surface that gives you a continuous floor plane running from inside the shower out into the bathroom with no material change at the opening.
Porcelain absorbs less than half a percent water by weight, which is the right property for a Gulf Coast bathroom. The porcelain is not the vulnerability. The grout is, and the fix is to reduce the amount of it: large format tile on the walls, 12 by 24 or larger on the floor over a linear drain, and a high performance grout rather than a standard cementitious one.
Natural Stone
Marble and limestone are porous, they etch where an acidic cleaner touches them, and they hold sunscreen. In a house where people walk in with sandy feet, a polished stone floor also dulls quickly, because sand is harder than the polish. It is a design decision with a maintenance contract attached, and it should be made with that written down.
Grout, Scale, and League City Water
League City water is a blend. The city purchases surface water from the Gulf Coast Water Authority out of Texas City and from the City of Houston Southeast Water Purification Plant, and it also operates groundwater entry points, so what comes out of your tap depends partly on where you are on the system.
The most recent published water quality report shows total hardness around 124 milligrams per liter as calcium carbonate, which is roughly 7.2 grains per gallon, with pH around 8.1 and total dissolved solids near 240 milligrams per liter. That is moderately hard water. It will leave scale on glass and fixtures, and combined with salt residue it is the reason a factory-applied protective glass coating and a squeegee kept in the shower are worth more here than in most markets.

League City Homes, Subdivisions, and the Streets We Cover
League City is the thirty-sixth largest city in Texas and the largest city in Galveston County, with a 2020 census population of 114,392 and a 2025 estimate near 119,900 across roughly 53 square miles. The city counts about a hundred subdivisions and more than 40,000 households.
That is three distinct housing markets wearing one city name, and each one produces a different kind of shower project.
The Historic Core Along Main Street
The town began at the junction of Clear Creek and Chigger Bayou in the 1850s and took the League name later. In 1907 two railroad flatcars of live oaks arrived for residents to plant, and those Butler Oaks still line Main Street.
The oldest housing sits in and around that corridor, and it is the smallest and most constrained bathroom stock in the city. Expect narrow rooms, original plumbing runs, and framing that has to be verified before anybody promises a wider opening.
The Master Planned West Side
Most of the city was built after the 1980s, and the growth west of Interstate 45 toward FM 646 and League City Parkway is heavily 1990s through 2010s master planned product on slab. Victory Lakes and Magnolia Creek sit in this band.
These are the fiberglass and cultured marble bathrooms that are aging out right now. The bones are usually fine, the layout is usually workable, and a shower remodel League City TX homeowners start out here is usually a straight tub to shower conversion or a walk-in shower replacement with better hardware than the builder installed.
The Waterfront Side
South Shore Harbour and the neighborhoods along Clear Creek and Clear Lake are the most exposed addresses in the city and the ones where everything in the corrosion sections above applies hardest. They also generate the rinse-shower use case, because these are the households with boats.
Flood matters here too. The city sits across the Clear Creek and Dickinson Bayou watersheds and operates flood gauges at Egret Bay Boulevard, FM 518, Bay Area Boulevard, FM 646 and Hughes Lane. The 2019 map revision placed roughly 10,674 acres and about 3,730 homes inside the special flood hazard area, and the city floodplain management rating earns a 25 percent NFIP discount inside that area and 10 percent outside it.
What the Housing Stock Means for Your Quote
Assume slab on grade on nearly everything, with the drain cast into the concrete and a shallow depth to work with
Assume the exposure grade of the address matters, because a bayside street and a west-side subdivision are not the same corrosion environment
Assume a 1990s or 2000s builder shower in most of the city, meaning fiberglass or cultured marble in a standard alcove
Assume the flood zone question is on the permit application, because League City asks for the flood zone and the FEMA FIRM number by name
Assume small original bathrooms anywhere near the Main Street corridor, where a wider opening is a framing question first
Assume the inspection calendar drives the schedule, because a 3 p.m. cutoff and a short Friday are not negotiable
Where We Work
Cascade Showerworks runs out of 1800 Sherwood Forest Street in Houston and covers League City and the full Clear Lake and Galveston Bay corridor. That includes the Main Street corridor, South Shore Harbour, Victory Lakes, Magnolia Creek and the neighborhoods along Clear Creek, plus Kemah, Seabrook, Nassau Bay, Webster, Clear Lake City, Friendswood, Dickinson and Santa Fe.
Most of League City is served by Clear Creek ISD, which is headquartered in the city and runs Clear Creek, Clear Springs and Clear Falls high schools here, with Dickinson ISD and Santa Fe ISD covering other portions. Helen Hall Library sits at 100 West Walker next to the municipal complex, and the National Weather Service Houston and Galveston forecast office is inside the city limits, which is a fitting detail for a market where the weather decides the specification.
Walk In Shower Cost League City: What These Projects Run in 2026
Houston market data for 2026 puts an installed walk-in shower at an average around $8,874, with the common band running roughly $5,916 to $11,832. Tub to shower conversion averages sit lower, near $2,958, because that figure includes a high volume of acrylic drop-in conversions where nothing structural is touched.
None of those numbers price the coast. The walk in shower cost League City homeowners actually pay carries a hardware and finish premium that an inland quote does not, and it is a small premium relative to what it prevents.
Cascade Showerworks publishes its price bands rather than holding them behind a design presentation. The Pioneer series in compression-molded solid surface runs $9,200 to $14,400, the BelAir series in cast acrylic runs $11,800 to $17,600, and the Luxura series runs $14,400 to $21,900. Drain work, ventilation work and permits are quoted on top of that, in writing, before anything is torn out.
Pioneer Series
Compression-molded solid surface walls and base, one day install
BelAir Series
Cast acrylic with reversible bookmatched panels
Luxura Series
Cast acrylic plus solid surface, top of the line

Line Items That Move Your League City Number
Plumbers in this market run roughly $45 to $200 per hour. That spread is a large part of why a company sending the same certified crew every day prices differently than one assembling a crew per job.

The Questions That Separate Them
Questions to Ask Before You Sign With Any Walk In Shower Company
Three companies will quote your bathroom and the numbers will be thousands apart. In this market the spread is rarely the tile. It is the membrane, the drain, the hardware alloy and whether anybody thought about the air.
What coating is on the fixture trim, PVD or electroplated?
The answer you wantIf the answer is a finish name rather than a coating type, you have not been told anything
What alloy are the hinges, clamps and fasteners?
The answer you wantThe correct answer near Galveston Bay is 316 stainless, and it should be on the contract
Is there aluminum anywhere in the enclosure, and how is it isolated?
The answer you wantNylon or EPDM bushings and sealed fastener holes, or a hardware set with no aluminum in it
Who makes the drain and who makes the membrane?
The answer you wantA drain from one manufacturer and a membrane from another with no tested bond is a joint waiting to leak
Are you registered with the City of League City?
The answer you wantRegistration, a $250,000 certificate of insurance and a trade license are on file before work can start
Will you request the cover-up inspection before anything is concealed?
The answer you wantThe city requires written permission to cover work, and your waterproofing is what gets covered
Does any part of this scope touch a window, an exterior door, siding or the roof?
The answer you wantIf yes, ask who is pulling the WPI-8 and when the certificate issues
Is my price flat and written before demolition, and does the warranty transfer?
The answer you wantThe only correct answer on a change is a written change order you approve first

Walk-In Shower Questions League City Homeowners Ask
10 of the questions League City homeowners ask us most often. Costs, permits, and second-floor engineering — all answered straight, with the actual numbers.
This page ranks five: Cascade Showerworks, Simplicity Bath & Shower, Re-Bath Houston, Luxury Bath of Houston and EZ Bath. Cascade publishes the ranking and is first on it, measured against shower specialization, installer model, waterproofing system, timeline, pricing transparency, warranty, local accountability and public rating. Every criterion is printed near the top of this page so you can score them yourself.
The trade work does. League City issues standalone and sub trade permits for plumbing, electrical and mechanical, and the city states that any work performed by a licensed trade, or any work that will be covered from view before it is completed, requires inspection. Any walk in shower installation League City homeowners are planning should start at the Building Department at 500 West Walker Street or the online permit portal. The city also requires contractor registration before work may be permitted or commenced.
The shower itself, no. TDI and TWIA both list plumbing and electrical repairs and non-structural interior items as improvements that do not require a windstorm inspection, and a tub to shower conversion inside existing walls is exactly that. Certification is triggered by the building envelope: windows, exterior doors, garage doors, siding, roofing, patio covers, decks, and additions. If your scope includes any of those, ask who is obtaining the WPI-8.
Because chloride gets inside the house and it does not leave. It arrives on wind, on skin, on gear and through open windows, and once it is on a metal surface it is hygroscopic, meaning it pulls moisture out of humid air and holds a corrosive film at humidity levels where clean metal would stay dry. In a bathroom that reaches saturation twice a day and dries slowly because the outdoor air is already humid, that film is present for a large share of the year.
Electroplated chrome is a soft plated stack deposited from a bath, and its weakness is porosity: chloride finds a pore, reaches the nickel underneath, and starts a pit under the plating that eventually lifts it. PVD is applied in a vacuum chamber as a very hard, essentially non-porous ceramic film bonded into the substrate. It resists scratching and it gives chloride nowhere to start. That is why PVD is the marine standard and why it is worth the upgrade in League City.
Near Galveston Bay, 316 is the right default. Both alloys protect themselves with a passive chromium oxide film, but 316 adds two to three percent molybdenum specifically to stabilize that film against chloride attack. The failure mode is crevice corrosion inside hinge assemblies and threaded holes, where oxygen is depleted and chloride concentrates, and it damages the joint from the inside while the outside still looks new.
Yes, and it is a common failure that gets blamed on the glass. A frameless panel is clamped between hinge halves against gaskets. When a fastener corrodes and loses clamping force or shears, the panel shifts and starts bearing on metal at a point instead of on gasket. Tempered glass is very strong across its face and vulnerable at the edge, and a point load on a tempered edge is the classic cause of a panel that appears to shatter on its own weeks later.
A linear drain with a stainless channel and a removable grate. Sand settles wherever water slows down, and a traditional point drain in a mortar bed has small weep holes that plug with sand and then never let the pan dry. A linear channel lets you lift the grate, pull the debris basket and rinse it out with the handheld in under a minute. Skip the tile-in grate on a rinse shower and take the removable stainless one.
Houston market data for 2026 puts an installed walk-in shower at an average around $8,874 with a common band of roughly $5,916 to $11,832, and tub to shower conversion averages near $2,958. Cascade publishes system pricing from $9,200 to $21,900 depending on series. On top of that, a League City project should carry a coastal hardware and finish line covering PVD trim and 316 hardware, plus city plumbing and electrical permit fees.
A Cascade shower system install is a one-day job, roughly 7:30 in the morning to 5:30 in the evening, with the shower usable after the silicone cures overnight. The schedule around it is set by the city. Inspection requests must be in by 3 in the afternoon for the next business day, the Building Department office closes at noon on Fridays with inspections ending at 11 in the morning, and construction hours run 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
