Custom Shower Design. Three Series. Hundreds of Looks. One-Day Install.
Updated May 2026 · Reviewed by the Cascade ShowerWorks installation team · Sam Mueller-Certified Installer Lead on every job
A custom shower should not require six weeks of tile work, three subcontractors, and a $35,000 invoice to look designed. Cascade ShowerWorks builds a fully customized walk-in shower (custom footprint, custom wall pattern, custom finish, custom hardware, niches, benches, dual rain heads) in one day, for $9,200 to $21,900 depending on series and accessory load.
Designer arrives at your bathroom with the full Cascade ShowerWorks catalog. You pick the wall pattern, the base color, the niche position, the hardware finish, the door style, the bench, and the rain head configuration. Two weeks later, the panels are fabricated to your template. One day later, they install before dinner.
We will get back to you as soon as possible.

What "Custom" Means at Cascade ShowerWorks
A custom shower at Cascade ShowerWorks is a fully designer-driven walk-in built around your bathroom, your aesthetic, and your accessory list. The walls are cast-acrylic or CMSS panels (Pioneer, Luxura, or BelAir) selected from the full catalog. The base is digitally templated to your exact footprint. Niches, benches, grab bars, hardware, valves, and door style are picked off-menu, not assigned by a chain installer running a one-size-fits-all kit.
Custom does not mean custom-built tile. We do not lay tile. Tile is a different product, a different timeline (3 to 5 days), and a different maintenance commitment (re-grout every 2 years). Cascade ShowerWorks custom uses solid-through cast acrylic and CMSS panels that look like marble, limestone, river stone, fossil, or bookmatched stone, without grout lines, without sealing, and without the tile timeline.
Custom also does not mean unlimited. We work within the Cascade Bath catalog (manufactured by Samuel Mueller). The catalog is broad enough to deliver hundreds of distinct visual combinations. It is not a custom-fabrication shop where any pattern is possible. The honest constraint is what makes the one-day install timeline possible.
"I got quotes from Bath Fitter, Re-Bath, and Cascade. Cascade ShowerWorks was the only one that showed me the actual wall samples, gave me a written price the same day, and started on time. Day-of, they were in and out before 6 PM and the master shower looks like a custom tile job." (Verified Houston Homeowner)
The Cascade ShowerWorks Catalog: What You Can Actually Customize
A Cascade ShowerWorks custom shower starts with five categories of choices. Below is the full catalog menu the designer brings to your free in-home consult.
The combinatorial math: 14+ wall patterns x 5 hardware finishes x 4 door styles x 5 base sizes x niche/bench/spray-head choices = several hundred distinct visual combinations within the catalog. That is enough range for the master bath to actually look like yours, not like the showroom photo.
Pioneer, Luxura, BelAir: Three Series with Hundreds of Looks
Custom shower design at Cascade ShowerWorks is anchored by three series. The series determines the wall material and the available pattern library. Every series uses the same 40,000-pound hydraulic-press manufacturing standard and ships with the same lifetime warranty.
A note on price ranges: BelAir's installed range sits below Luxura's because Luxura ships in larger panel formats and more accessible-base configurations. Higher tier does not mean higher invoice. The series number indicates material technology, not total price.
Pioneer is Series I, Entry. Built on SMC compression-molded solid surface, manufactured under 40,000 pounds of hydraulic press pressure. Finish options include subway, herringbone, hexagon, or large-format tile patterns. Best for custom design at value tier, guest bath upgrade.
Luxura is Series II, Mid. Manufactured from Cast acrylic + CMSS, hospital-grade non-porous. Patterns include marble, limestone, river stone, and classic stone. Best for master bath custom, design-conscious buyer, accessible upgrade.
BelAir is Series III, Premium. Featuring Cast acrylic with reversible bookmatched panels that mirror natural stone veining. Finishes include sedimentary, fossil, life tree, Roman walnut, and white subway. Best for premium designer custom, designer remodel, resale upgrade.
What Makes BelAir's Bookmatched Panels Special
BelAir's premium-tier patterns (Sedimentary, fossil, life tree, Roman walnut, white subway) are produced as reversible bookmatched panels. The veining mirrors across the seam line, the same way two slabs from the same stone block are bookmatched in a luxury kitchen.
From inside the shower, the wall reads as a single continuous slab of natural stone, not as separate tile pieces. The seam disappears into the pattern. You get the natural-stone look without the porosity, the staining, the sealer maintenance every two years, or the $40,000 invoice that comes with real natural stone slabs.

Custom Shower Features: Niches, Benches, Dual Heads, and More
The wall pattern is half of a custom design. The other half is what gets built into the wall and what hangs off it. Below is the feature catalog and the design rules our designer walks every consult through.
01
Niches
STORAGE SOLUTIONS
Niches
STORAGE SOLUTIONSA shower niche is a recessed shelf built into the wall for shampoo, soap, and product storage. Cascade ShowerWorks installs niches in three standard sizes per industry conventions:
Niche Placement Rules
Height from floor: 42 to 48 inches (chest height for an average adult). For a bench-height seated user, 25 to 30 inches works.
Wall position: out of the direct shower spray (typically the wall opposite the shower head). Direct spray pools water in the niche and accelerates mildew.
Avoid plumbing walls: the wall containing the supply lines and valve is hard to recess into without rerouting. We design around it.
Slope the bottom: Cascade ShowerWorks niches are factory-formed with a slight slope toward the shower so water drains rather than pooling.
02
Benches
SEATING & COMFORT
Benches
SEATING & COMFORTBenches serve three different use cases: shaving (calf rest), seated rinse (full transfer), and ADA transfer (wheelchair to bench).

HARDWARE & FIXTURESCustom Acrylic vs Custom Tile: The Honest Comparison
The other "custom shower" path is a custom-built tile shower with a general contractor. It is a real option. It is also a different product with different trade-offs. Below is the honest comparison.
| Spec | Cascade ShowerWorks Custom (Cast Acrylic) | Custom Tile Shower (General Contractor) |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Cast acrylic + CMSS, solid-through, non-porous | Tile + grout, porous grout, requires sealing |
| Lifespan | 15 to 25+ years (no grout maintenance) | 20 to 50+ years (with regular re-grout and re-seal) |
| Install timeline | 1 day | 3 to 5 days minimum, often 1 to 2 weeks |
| Bathroom unusable | 24 hours (silicone cure) | 1 to 2 weeks |
| Maintenance | Warm water and microfiber, weekly | Weekly grout cleaning, annual re-seal, re-grout every 5 years |
| Mold and mildew risk | Hospital-grade non-porous, zero substrate | Grout absorbs moisture, common mildew failure point |
| Custom shapes | Limited to catalog (still hundreds of combinations) | Unlimited custom shapes |
| Crew | One Sam Mueller-certified W2 lead + apprentice | Tile setter, plumber, general contractor, often 3+ subs |
| Houston cost range | $9,200 to $21,900 (Cascade ShowerWorks Pioneer to Luxura) | $4,000 to $20,000+ for walls only per industry data, plus base, valve, door, labor |
| Warranty | Lifetime on walls, base, valve, labor | Variable, often 1 to 5 years on workmanship, no manufacturer panel warranty |

Why Cascade ShowerWorks Walls Outlast Bath Fitter, Re-Bath, and Jacuzzi
Cascade ShowerWorks walls are roughly 2x the thickness of every acrylic shower system above. The four franchise brands will not publish wall thickness numbers. We will. Thickness is the single best predictor of how a custom shower wall ages.

Lifetime Warranty Backed by Samuel Mueller

Frequently Asked Questions
Ten of the questions Houston homeowners ask us most often about custom showers. Pricing, hardware finishes, install speed, and resale value —all answered straight.
A Cascade ShowerWorks custom shower combines designer-driven choices across five categories (wall pattern, base size and threshold, door style, hardware finish, accessory load) into a unique configuration built around your bathroom. Custom does not mean unlimited shape (we work within the Cascade ShowerWorks catalog). It means hundreds of distinct visual combinations that look designed rather than catalog-default.
A Cascade ShowerWorks custom shower runs $9,200 to $21,900 depending on series, footprint, and accessory load. Pioneer custom (subway, herringbone, hexagon) is $9,200 to $14,400. Luxura custom (marble, limestone, river stone) is $14,400 to $21,900. BelAir custom (bookmatched stone-look) is $11,800 to $17,600. Add-ons: dual rain heads $600 to $1,200, body sprays $1,500 to $3,000, zero-threshold curbless $1,000 to $2,500.
No. Cascade ShowerWorks installs cast-acrylic and CMSS panel showers, not tile. The tile path is a different product (real grout, longer install, ongoing re-seal maintenance). For homeowners who specifically want a custom-built tile shower, we refer to a trusted general contractor. For homeowners who want the tile-look without grout maintenance, our Pioneer subway and Luxura stone-look patterns are the right product.
Yes. Niches install at standard 12x12, 12x24, or 16x20 inch sizes, factory-formed at 3.5-inch depth with bottom slope toward the shower. Benches install as built-in masonry (17 to 19 inches above base) or fold-up padded teak/composite. Dual rain heads install on opposing walls of a 60x42 or larger footprint. All three are standard custom add-ons.
Bookmatched panels mirror the veining pattern across the seam line, the same way two consecutive stone slabs from the same block are opened "like the pages of a book" and installed side by side in a luxury kitchen. From inside the shower, the wall reads as one continuous slab of natural stone instead of two separate panels. BelAir is Cascade's reversible-bookmatched series, available in Sedimentary, fossil, life tree, Roman walnut, and white subway patterns.
Five finishes in stock: polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, champagne bronze, and polished brass. Special-order finishes (oil-rubbed bronze, antique copper, satin gold) add 2 to 4 weeks to lead time. Premium finishes (matte black, champagne bronze, polished brass) typically add $200 to $600 over polished chrome.
The install itself takes one day, 8 to 10 hours, finished by 5:30 PM. The full project from signed quote to install date takes 3 to 5 weeks for Pioneer and Luxura catalog patterns, 5 to 7 weeks for BelAir bookmatched panels. The shower is ready to use 24 hours after completion (silicone cure time).
Yes, when the panels are factory-fabricated to your template before install day. Cascade ShowerWorks orders custom panels after the consult and template phase. By install day, every component arrives ready to fit. The crew assembles the shower on site rather than fabricating it in your bathroom. That is how a custom job runs in 8 to 10 hours instead of the 3 to 5 days a tile setter needs.
Yes, in master baths and primary bathrooms. Custom showers with frameless glass, stone-look or bookmatched walls, dual rain heads, and a built-in bench show stronger in resale photography than catalog-default tub-shower combos. Listing agents in Memorial, The Woodlands, and Sugar Land specifically call out walk-in custom master showers as buyer-confidence features. The Cascade ShowerWorks lifetime warranty, which agents call out in property listings.
Yes. Texas RMP / Master Plumber License #[Insert Texas TSBPE License Number]. Full general liability and workers' compensation coverage. Sam Mueller installer certifications on every lead installer. BBB profile in good standing.
