What a Walk-In Shower Installation Means at Cascade ShowerWorks
A walk-in shower installation at Cascade ShowerWorks builds an open-entry shower (no tub, no high step-over) into your bathroom in one day. Standard footprint is 60x36 inches with a low-threshold or zero-threshold base, cast-acrylic walls, a thermostatic valve, and a frameless 3/8-inch glass door. Larger 72x48 master custom configurations are available in the BelAir premium series.
This is different from a tub-to-shower conversion (which transforms an existing tub footprint) and different from a stand-up shower replacement (which swaps out an existing fiberglass stall). A walk-in shower installation is the end-state design: open-entry, low or zero threshold, generous interior, premium feel. It is what buyers ask for by name.
"I got quotes from Bath Fitter, Re-Bath, and Cascade. Cascade ShowerWorks was the only one that showed me the actual wall samples, gave me a written price the same day, and started on time. Day-of, they were in and out before 6 PM and the master shower looks like a custom tile job." (Verified Houston Homeowner)
Five Reasons Homeowners Pick a Walk-In Shower
Homeowners pick a walk-in shower for one of five reasons. The free in-home consult walks through which one is driving your decision.
The tub is dead floor space.
A 60-inch alcove tub steals 15 square feet of usable bathroom. A walk-in opens the room visually and functionally.
Step-over fall risk.
Bathroom falls are the #1 home injury for adults over 65 per the CDC. A low-threshold or zero-threshold walk-in removes the highest-risk.
The master needs to read as luxury.
Walk-in showers with stone-look Luxura panels show better than tile in resale photography and inspection.
Cleaning a tile shower is exhausting.
Tile means grout. Grout means re-sealing every two years and re-grouting every five. Cast acrylic is non-porous, no grout, warm water plus microfiber.
Your existing shower is failing.
Yellowed fiberglass, cracked coves, mildew through the caulk lines. The wet zone is past its useful life.
Footprint and Dimensions: Will a Walk-In Fit Your Bathroom?
The single most-asked question on a walk-in shower consult is "will a true walk-in even fit my bathroom?" The answer depends on your existing wet-zone footprint. Below is the same fit guide our designer uses on every consult.
| Available Wet-Zone Footprint | Walk-In Size That Fits | Series | Comfort Level | Installed Range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 60x32 (existing tub footprint) | 60x32 walk-in | Pioneer | Single-person standing. Tight. | $9,200 to $14,400 |
| 60x36 (most masters) | 60x36 walk-in | Luxura | Comfortable. Cascade's most-common install. | $14,400 to $21,900 |
| 60x42 | 60x42 walk-in with bench | Luxura | Generous. Room for a fold-up bench. | $14,400 to $21,900 |
| 72x42 | 72x42 walk-in | Luxura or BelAir | Extra-large. Two-zone (rain head plus hand shower). | $14,400 to $21,900 |
| 72x48 (master custom) | 72x48 walk-in master | BelAir | Premium master. Bench, dual heads, bookmatched stone-look panels. | $11,800 to $17,600 |
Low-Threshold vs Zero-Threshold: Pick the Right Entry
Walk-in showers come in two entry styles. The choice depends on who lives in the house and what you want the shower to look like.
Pick low-threshold if no one in the house has mobility concerns and you want the cleanest, simplest install. Pick zero-threshold if you are aging in place, planning to age in place within 10 years, or future-proofing for resale to an aging-in-place buyer (a growing demographic).
"We did a curbless shower for my mom. Cascade ShowerWorks installed grab bars where the certified physical therapist marked them, used a zero-threshold base, and finished in one day. The whole job was $11,800 and it changed how my mom uses her bathroom." (Verified Houston Homeowner)Book My Free Consult · Call (346) 678-4776

Luxura Series Walls: The Walk-In Shower Default
Most Cascade ShowerWorks walk-in shower installations use the Luxura series. Luxura is built on cast acrylic plus CMSS, manufactured under 40,000 pounds of hydraulic press pressure, and finished in marble, limestone, river stone, or classic stone patterns. Hospital-grade non-porous surface. Larger panel formats than Pioneer for cleaner seam lines on a 60x36 or larger footprint.
Pioneer walls utilize SMC compression-molded technology to deliver a durable, non-porous surface. These panels feature deep textures and crisp lines that mimic high-end tile without the maintenance of grout.
Quick timelines, proven durability.
Pioneer is the smart choice for homeowners looking for a professional-grade walk-in shower conversion that balances aesthetic appeal with a budget-friendly installed price.
Luxura walls offer hospital-grade non-porous surfaces. They feature larger panel formats than the Pioneer series, resulting in cleaner seam lines on standard and larger walk-in footprints.
Natural aesthetics, extreme durability.
Luxura mimics the look of high-end natural stone slabs like marble and limestone while providing a maintenance-free surface that resists mold and mineral buildup.
BelAir walls feature cast acrylic technology with a unique bookmatched finish. This series is designed for larger footprints where visual symmetry and high-impact sedimentary or fossil patterns are desired.
Bookmatched symmetry, architectural scale.
BelAir panels are specifically engineered for custom master bathroom projects where homeowners want the look of slab-cut sedimentary rock or rare wood grains.
A note on price ranges: BelAir's installed range sits below Luxura's because Luxura ships in larger panel formats and more accessible-base configurations. Higher tier does not mean higher invoice. The series number indicates material technology, not total price.
Why Cascade ShowerWorks Walls Outlast Bath Fitter, Re-Bath, and Jacuzzi
Cascade ShowerWorks walls are roughly 2x the thickness of every acrylic shower system above. The four franchise brands will not publish wall thickness numbers. We will. Thickness is the single best predictor of how a walk-in shower wall ages in any humid climate.

Walk-In Shower with Tub: The Hybrid for Houses That Need Both
Some masters have room for both a freestanding tub and a separate walk-in shower. This is the "spa master" configuration, common in custom homes built after 2005 in Memorial, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, and Cinco Ranch. The hybrid layout is also the smart resale move for homeowners who want a daily walk-in but cannot remove the last tub in the house. Keep the tub for the bathing-buyer or the occasional soak. Add the walk-in for the daily-use upgrade.

Frequently Asked Questions
Nine of the questions Houston homeowners ask us most often about walk-in shower installations. Pricing, timeline, footprint requirements, cleaning, and resale value —all answered straight.
A Cascade ShowerWorks walk-in shower installation runs $14,400 to $21,900 in the standard Luxura series (60x36 footprint, cast-acrylic walls, low-threshold base, thermostatic valve, frameless 3/8-inch glass door). Pioneer entry-tier walk-ins run $9,200 to $14,400 in tighter footprints. BelAir master custom 72x48 walk-ins run $11,800 to $17,600. The franchise competitors charge $19,000 to $32,000 for the same scope.
A true walk-in shower needs at least 60x36 inches of clear wet-zone footprint. Tighter footprints (60x32 or 36x36) work in the Pioneer entry series but read as a stand-up rather than a true walk-in. Larger footprints (60x42, 72x42, 72x48) accommodate a bench, dual heads, or premium BelAir bookmatched panels.
For daily use, yes. Walk-in showers are faster to step into, easier to clean, less risky for falls, and read as luxury in resale photos. Tubs serve infrequent soaking and infant bathing. If your household uses the tub less than once a month, a walk-in shower is the better daily-use upgrade. Keep one tub elsewhere in the house if you have an infant or you are concerned about resale.
Yes, in most configurations. Walk-in master showers regularly out-photograph and out-show traditional tub-shower combos in property listings. Listing agents in Memorial, Sugar Land, and The Woodlands report Cascade ShowerWorks warranties getting called out in property listings as a buyer-confidence signal. The exception is a one-bath house where removing the only tub shrinks the buyer pool.
Yes. Cascade ShowerWorks cast-acrylic and CMSS walls are non-porous, solid-through, and non-grouted. Cleaning is warm water and a microfiber cloth. No bleach. No abrasives. No grout sealer every two years. A tile walk-in requires re-sealing grout every two years and re-grouting every five.
One day. Crew arrives at 7:30 AM and finishes by 5:30 PM. Most jobs run 8 to 10 hours. The shower is ready to use 24 hours after completion (silicone cure time). The full project from signed quote to install date takes 3 to 5 weeks for Luxura catalog patterns or 5 to 7 weeks for BelAir bookmatched panels.
Most Cascade ShowerWorks walk-in installations include either a frameless 3/8-inch glass door or a semi-frameless 5/16-inch slider. Open walk-in designs without a door are possible if the shower has a 4 to 6 foot wet-zone depth and proper drainage slope, but most bathrooms benefit from at least a partial glass panel to contain spray.
60x36 is the Cascade ShowerWorks default and works for most masters. 60x42 adds room for a fold-up bench. 72x42 or 72x48 in the BelAir master custom configuration accommodates dual rain heads, a bench, and full bookmatched stone-look panels. Choose based on your available wet-zone footprint and how many people use the shower.
